My husband and I are the kind of people that get excited over the superbowl, because of the food, not the game. Now I know there are plenty of people in the world like that, but our love of food is not exclusive to nachos and tailgate entrees. We both have a passion for gourmet foods; however we're still on a ramen noodles budget. This momentary financial barricade has not hindered our desire, and therefore we cook. A lot. At home.
My husband’s obsession for pastry and bakery items began early on. He once made chocolate soufflé 6 times in one week. He even made the crème anglaise from scratch. I wasn't really wasn't about to complain.
At Christmas time I humor him buy always putting a kitchen item in his stocking. (One year I even bought him a pack of silverware, because he insisted that I had lost all of our spoons.) I always try to be creative and find something he would like, but somehow my flamboyantly "foodie" brother-in-law always one ups me. Two years ago it was "The Bread Bible" [by C.Ingram]. A funny name, right? Wrong. I am positive that my dear husband literally reads this bread bible more than the King James Version. And yet, in two years he has made one, ONE I tell you, recipe out of this holy baking scripture. He reads it, he ponders it, he lusts after it... but seldom does he bake it.
And so the time has come to lust no more after this enchanting book! It's time to bake all 100+ blessed breads!
Undoubtly there will be failures, there will cursing, and burning, and band aids.... but Ooo, there will be bread. Lots of it! And I will get to eat it! And report back to you on the trials, challenges, and rewards of the bread-tastic journey we are embarking on, right here, on the breadbibleblog!
